The First Wash race was held on the 29th may 2006.

4 boats entererd Freedom, Clararlie, La Moulette and a Parker 23.

There was a brisk westerly wind blowing force 4-5. The start line was set as Froxtrot and No9 bouy. The 10min call was given at 11.35.

The tide was ebbing and trying to push all boats over the line, but a clean start was achieved by all.

The "fleet" headed towards Sculridge going between Echo and no.7 on a broad reach. With the tide still ebbing it did not take long reach the first mark. The Parker was first there closely fololwed by Claralie then La Moulette then Freedom.

The next mark was back down to Echo to starboard, followed by no.7 to starboard followed by Echo to starboard with a last run down to the finish at Foxtrot and no.9

The Parker and Claralie soon showed there form on the windward leg pulling away from the other 2. With the tide stilling ebbing strong it was a hard windward leg with distance lost on every cross tack.

The wind had increased to force 5-6, most boats had reduced sail. The sea stayed resonably calm.

The finishing order was Parker, Claralie, La moulette and then Freedom.
